David Carl Cox

April 22, 1969 — January 28, 2026

David "Dave" Carl Cox, 56, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family on January 28, 2026, at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital.

Dave was born on April 22, 1969, in Toledo, to Dennis and Donna (Gacik) Cox. He was a proud graduate of Northwood High School, where he played basketball and ran hurdles on the track team.
Following high school, Dave began his working career at Great Lakes Windows before joining the apprenticeship program through the Boilermakers Union Hall, Local 85. Working as a boilermaker was a trade he took great pride in throughout his life.

In his free time, Dave enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He was an avid coin collector and a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Pistons and Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed a good steak, trips to the casino, games of chess against his daughters, as well as playing cards, darts and sand volleyball with friends. He also loved learning about history; often spending time watching the History Channel.

Above all, Dave loved and cherished his daughters, Colleen and Krista. They were the light of his life and he often said they were his greatest accomplishment. They spent many Sundays together enjoying their weekly tradition of having breakfast at Freeway Restaurant. Over the years, Dave volunteered much of his time proudly coaching both Colleen and Krista in school sports including softball and, his favorite, basketball.

Dave is survived by his daughters, Colleen Cox and Krista (Dylan) Gore; his grandchildren, Aubrina, Carter, and Camdyn Morales, and Spencer Gore; his brother, Dennis Cox; his sister, Debbie Ledford; his former wife and friend DeAnna Cox, as well as aunts uncles, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Cox and Donna Gacik; Grandparents, Jessie Cox, Raymond and Josephine Beck.

Dave will be deeply missed by many family and friends.
