David W. Cowan

David W. Cowan, age 88, died on December 10, 2015 at Sunset Village surrounded by his family. He was born in Utica, New York on January 2nd 1927 to Harold and Bessie (Anacher) Cowan. He was the youngest of two children. David proudly served his country during WWII before marrying Dorothy on May 17th 1947. Together they had two daughters they raised in Utica, New York before relocating to Toledo, OH in their retirement. David worked thirty-four years for General Electric in variety of roles in production control. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, attending estate sales and auctions. He loved to tell stories of his many adventures of his life and always doted on Dorothy. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters Eleanor (John) Swiecki, Victoria (Thomas) Bartlett; a niece Sharon Davies; four grandchildren Melissa Swiecki, Wesley (Stephanie) Bartlett, Kimberly (Brandon) Hoff and David Bartlett; and four great-grandchildren Elliette Bartlett, Isaac Bartlett, Kiersten Hoff and Kelsie Hoff. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Saint Joan of Arc Church on Tuesday, December 15th at 10 am with military rites and inurnment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
