David Mark Chandler aka Ward, 55, passed away on Thursday, December 26th at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a heroic 32 month fight against mesothelioma. Born to J. Matt and Vivian in 1958, David spent his youth in Kalamazoo, Michigan growing up alongside his sisters Susan John Schadler and Paula Tom LaPorte. He attended St. Monicas and graduated in 1976 from Hackett High School. There he was a 7 sport letter winner and two times state singles runner-up champion in tennis. David graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1980 with a BBA. He was a four year letter winner and captain of the Eastern Michigan tennis team his senior year. In December of 1981, he began his lifelong career at Bennett Management Corporation working his way up from an assistant Manager to President and CEO. He served on many committees including the Ohio Business Comittee, Maines Local Distribution Committee, VP President of the Burger King Great Lakes Franchise Association. He also served on the Burger King Corporation Operations, Technology and Profitability Committee as well as the Marketing Advisory Committee. He was very involved in the Springfield schools serving as President of the Saturday Basketball League and VP President of the Springfield High School Athletic Boosters. He was also a coach for his childrens basketball softball teams. He coached the sixth grade team to a state championship. In 1994, his mens Shadow Valley USTA team won the mens 4.5 National Championship in Palm Springs, CA. But after all these accomplishments, what David did best in life was to love. He loved life nevering taking a moment for granted He loved his dad, mom and two sisters and the wonderful childhood he was blessed with. He loved his friends-being a loyal friend was important to him. He loved his many nieces and nephews that he leaves behind as well as brother and sister-in-laws. He loved Burger King his Bennett Management family. He enjoyed his 32 years there and the wonderful people he had the pleasure of working with. He loved his cottage at Devils Lake and his 13 years spent there during the summers with family and friends. He affectionately named it Chandlers Great Escape. He loved his Missouri Tigers, flying out to games and most recently given the Missouri/Tennessee game ball by the 2013 football team. He loved hiking the mountains of Colorado, his seaside vacations and his many cruises with family and friends. But mostly he loved God and he dearly loved his family. He loved his wife Lisa of 33 years always referring to her as his bride or his Juney . He loved being the father of his most prized accomplishments, his daughter, Jennifer Geoffrey Pinkel and his son, Joshua Chandler. He especially loved being pop pop to Taylor Kellan Pinkel and Wynnie Chandler as he thought becoming a grandparent was one of gods most precious gifts. David taught us all three important thingslove, respect and kindness. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit will live on through our shared stories and laughter. Family friends may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5515 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2pm-8 pm. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10 am at Cedar Creek Church , 29129 Lime City Road, Perrysburg, Ohio. A luncheon and gathering will begin immediately following the service at the church. Memorial donations can be made in his name to The Meso Foundation, 1317 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314
