David Barth Browning

David B. Browning, age 70 of Sylvania passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Flower Hospital. He was born May 30, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert W. and Suzanne (Barth) Browning. A 1968 graduate of Sylvania High School he earned his bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University graduating in 1972. He was a member of Phi Mu Delta. Upon graduation Dave taught at Sylvania High School where he coached football and wrestling. He began his real estate management career at Village Realty with Ferd Seipel. In 1988 Dave and his business partner, Kevin Smith purchased Welles Bowen Realtors. In 2018 Welles Bowen was purchased by Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. Dave was a Realtor for 46 years and leaves behind a legacy of unparalleled involvement, professionalism and dedication to the real estate industry. He was the 1988 President of the Toledo Board of Realtors and was selected as the Realtor of the Year in 1989. Dave served for 10 years as an Ohio Realtors Director and also served as an instructor of pre-license education at both the University of Toledo and Hondros College. At the state level he taught Real Estate Ethics throughout Ohio. He was a current member of the Toledo Board of Realtors Scholarship Committee and most recently, was the recipient of the 2018 TRAR Distinguished Service Award. Current and past memberships include the Sylvania Rotary, Slagle Trout Club and The Huntington Community Center, The Toledo Zoo, The Toledo Metroparks, The Toledo Museum of Art, and The Olander Park System. He was a proud supporter of The Ability Center where his wife, Claire is a Board Member He most enjoyed spending time at his “Camp David” lake house on Round Lake near Coldwater, Michigan teaching his grandchildren to drive the floatboat and golf cart, enjoying sunsets on the deck or sitting at the firepit. Surviving is his wife, Claire whom he married in 1991. Children: Amy Browning Phillips (Kevin), Eric Krall Browning (Roxann Osborn) Chris Seiple (Karen Kelley), Julie Seiple Kirby (Matt) and Alison Seiple Guddy (Jim); 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, brothers; Robert and Tom (Nancy) Browning; sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Philip) Hopkins; former wife, Georgianna Browning; and his dog, Maizy. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in David’s name be directed to the Toledo Regional Association of Realtors Scholarship Fund at the Greater Toledo Community Foundation, 300 Madison Ave. Suite 1300 Toledo, Ohio 43604 or the Ability Center, 5605 Monroe St. Sylvania, Ohio 43560.
