David Phillips Bissonette, age 84, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully at his home on February 26, 2024. He was born November 30, 1939, in Toledo, OH to Edmund and Mary Margaret (Phillips) Bissonette. Dave married the love of his life in 1962, Susan Vander Ploeg. They spent 61 years together and had one daughter, Amy. He earned a Bachelor of Business degree from University of Toledo and went on to have a successful career in sales working for Unitcast and Power Brushes.
Dave will be remembered as outgoing, adventurous, and always ready for a good time. He was fondly known by his friends as Bissy. He was an avid fly fisherman and golfer. During the spring and summer, Dave could always be found on the fairways of Highland Meadows. He enjoyed a rousing game of gin rummy. Dave loved to travel domestically and internationally with his favorite destination being the pristine beaches of Aruba. He was a passionate fan of his alma mater, the University of Toledo Rockets.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; loving daughter, Amy Bissonette; nieces, Shelly (Burt) Jamieson, Linda (Walt) Martineau, Sherri Stephenson, and Kristy Kuehnl; nephews, Scott Stephenson, Greg Kuehnl and Mike (Melissa) Kuehnl ; grand nieces, Megan Jamieson, Katherine (Danny) Folino, Brittnay Martineau and Samantha Kuehnl; grand nephews , Andrew (Kari) Jamieson and Scott (Sara) Martineau; great grand nieces, Sarafina, Giorgia, and Giulia Folino, and sister-in-law, Nancy Wells. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Stephenson; sister-in-law, Carol Snyder; brother-in-law, Dick Snyder; and nieces, Jennifer Snyder and Karen (Jerry) Haas.
Family and Friends may visit Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 1-4 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave.
