David Bill Ankenbrandt

David Bill Ankenbrandt, age 78, died on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on August 1, 1935 in Maumee, Ohio to Joseph and Nellie Mackey Ankenbrandt. Bill worked for Libby Owens Ford for 34 years during which he started Ankenbrandt Towing Service in Maumee in 1978. During the blizzard of 1978, he could be found helping stranded drivers around town and his children loved to ride along when he was working. In his youth, Bill helped farm Ewing Island in the Maumee River, and like to hunt and fish. He began playing Santa for the family in his teens and continued for many years. Bill was a member at St. Joseph Catholic church in Maumee, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also proud to have served in the United States Coast Guard. In his spare time Bill could be found working on his cars and trucks or telling lots of good stories. He was especially fond of his family and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his loving wife Chris; sons, James; Daniel Mikkel; Anthony and David Jr. Michael; daughters, Alice Lee Ankenbrandt and Nellie Jeff Schilling; and grandchildren, Jeff; James; Aaron; Kane and Marshall. Also surviving are brothers, Raymond Judy; Richard Tiny; Charles Mary Ann; Douglas Jackie; and Tim Sheri; sisters, Mary Joseph Beaber; Marcia Steve Miko; Jane Ankenbrandt; Ruth Dennis Bensch; and Nancy Patrick Joyce; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ankenbrandt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joseph, John and Robert Sandy. Friends may gather at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a prayer service held at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 17, 2013 and mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee, Ohio at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and support.
