David (Dave)K. Amstutz, 65, of Perrysburg, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born on October 9, 1950 in Bluffton, OH to parents Paul and Clela (Hilty) Amstutz. Dave was a 1969 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He attended Muskingum University in New Concord, OH and Miami University in Oxford, OH where he enjoyed playing football for both schools, graduating from Miami University in 1974. Dave was an economic development professional and consultant with experience in both the public and private sector. During his career he was Manager of the Ohio Department of Development for the State of Ohio, President of the Mid America Council on Economic Development, Director of Economic Development for the Lima Area Chamber of Commerce and West Ohio Gas, Director of New Business Development and Project Manager at the Regional Growth Partnership, Director of Development for the City of Toledo and Owner of Six Oaks Solutions, a business consulting firm. Dave took great pleasure in visiting the businesses that he helped and watching the employees report to work. Family and friends were very important to Dave. He was a devoted husband and father. Dave was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church where he had served as Treasurer and President of Church Council, President of the board for Abundant Life and enjoyed singing in the Choir. Dave and his wife, Martha, loved traveling together, always making sure to visit any family that was on the way. Some of his favorite trips were the Zoar Choir Tour of Scandinavia, an Economic tour of Japan and his honeymoon in Alaska, with New Mexico being the only state he had not visited. He was a gentle giant, a steady arm to lean on and respected by all who knew him. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Martha (Trumbull); children, Susan Zimmerman (Ryan Pliner) and Jeffrey (Melissa) Zimmerman; brother Jim (Donna) Amstutz, sisters Jeanne (Delbert) Hall, Doneta (Jim) Miller, Marjorie (Hank Pauly) Mulcahy; sister-in-law Joan (Stuart) Love, brother-in-law Wayne Sanford and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Twila Sanford, his mother-in-law Frances Link and father-in-law John Link. Family and friends may visit the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 2-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E Indiana Avenue, Perrysburg, Ohio at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 9 with a meal following the service. Burial will be held privately, for family only. Those wishing to offer memorials are asked to consider Zoar Lutheran Church. The family wants to especially recognize and thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital who cared for Dave with much professionalism and compassion.
