James David McGaha, Sr., age 59, of Woodville, Ohio, born February 15, 1953, to J.C. and Rena Davidson McGaha, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on May 19, 2012. Dave was an owner/operator and independent contractor in the trucking industry, most recently working for Oni Transport. He enjoyed spending free time with his family, friends and grand-dogs, building mini choppers and slot cars, taking flying lessons, and going to motorbike races in Norwalk, Ohio. Dave is survived by: his longtime love, Tami Soncrant of Woodville; mother, Rena McGaha of Woodville; sister, Patricia Shelton of Woodville; sister, Tammy Edward Munoz of Ennis, Texas; daughter, Amy Brian Detlef of Walbridge; sons, James David McGaha, Jr. Anthony Sopko of Genoa, and Joshua McGaha of Lemoyne; grandsons, J.C. McGaha and Nathaniel Detlef; many nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends. Much love and gratitude to Donald Soncrant, Kevin and Chris Assad, and Jeff Peck for care provided and support during this time. The family would like to extend thanks for the care Dave received from Dr. Alkhalili and staff at Mercy Cancer Center at St. Charles and to all the staff involved with his care while with Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Funeral services will be private and handled by the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa.
