Darrell L. Floro

Darrell L. Floro, 89, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 at the Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born on May 9, 1935 in Erie Township, OH to Alvin C. and Verda (Yiesley) Wadsworth. On October 23, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart Mary A. Thayer, and after 65 years of marriage together, she preceded him in death on June 10, 2021.

Darrell served in the U.S. Army National Guard from October 15, 1961 - August 12, 1962 and continued to serve as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Ohio National Guard for 42 years. He was a longtime, active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor.

Darrell is survived by his children, Kim (Tom) Reif of Clayton, MI, Chris (Holly) Floro of Fayetteville, SC, and Betsy (Steve) Fofrich of Oak Harbor, 8 grandchildren, Edward (Terri), Carrie (Mike), Adam (Rebecca), Katharine, Rebekah (Izzy), Benjamin (Morgan), Emily (Calvin), and Renee (David), 18 great grandchildren, brother, Kent Floro of LaCarne, OH, and brothers-in-law, Donal Thayer of Cincinnati, OH and Rodney Thayer of Midlothian, VA.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Keith Floro, grandson, Benjamin Reif, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert “Pop” & Isadora “Bunce” Thayer, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Dorothy Harder, and sisters-in-law, Sue and Audrey Thayer.

Memorial services for Darrell will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Darrell may be given to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor or the Erie Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
