Darrel Bruce Childress

Darrel Bruce Childress, age 61, of Toledo, died peacefully on September 28, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Darrel was born January 31, 1955 in Toledo to the late Marvin and Norma (Depew) Childress. A graduate of DeVilbiss High School, Darrel was a mechanic at Brown Automotive for many years. He was a car enthusiast and in his younger years drove Figure 8 Race Cars in Toledo and Flat Rock, Michigan. Darrel also worked many years as a flag man at Toledo Speedway. He enjoyed attending cars shows and watching Ohio State Football. Darrel had a unique sense of humor and had a heart of gold. He was extremely helpful and giving. Survivors include his son, Todd Childress; step son, Jamie Simpson (Tricia); step daughter, Dawn Becker (Mike); grandchildren, Codey, Casey and Carey; siblings, Micki Asztalos (Steve), Becky Drake (Paul), Vicky Graziani (Dave), Kathy Bell (Kevin), Steve Childress (Sheryl), Cindy Childress and Dodi Childress; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road) where a Sharing of Memories Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Darrels family.
