Darla Jean Guth, 87, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Brooklyn Pointe Memory Care Unit in Brooklyn, Ohio. She was born on April 3, 1936 in Oak Harbor, Ohio, the daughter of the late Emery and Thelma (Rider) Cover. After graduating from Oak Harbor High School in 1954, she went to work at EAD (Erie Army Depot) where she met the love of her life, Charles E. Guth. They married in 1957 at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton.
Darla returned to work once their daughters reached school age and retired from the Port Clinton City Schools, serving as secretary for the school psychologist. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton for over 60 years. She never met a stranger and would chat with everyone. Darla loved and enjoyed caring for her family and is deeply missed by many.
Survivors include her daughters, Hope Guth (Greg Heidenreich, husband, deceased) and Amy Guth-Goans (Paul Cantu, partner); grandchildren, Lacy Delgado (Martin Delgado, husband), Amanda Goans (Kiel Watson, partner), Allison “Ally” Goans (Carson Ward, partner), Austin Weglicki; and great-grandson, Loki Watson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kent, and husband Charles.
Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 10 am until Funeral Services at 12 pm with Pastor Jarrod Schaaf officiating. Burial will follow in Elliston Cemetery.
