Daphne Carolyn Parry

January 24, 1923 — October 16, 2011

Daphne C. Parry, 88, of Holland, Ohio passed away Sunday at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born January 24, 1923 in Whitehall, N.Y. to Jenny May Belden and William Jackson. She graduated from Whitehall High School in 1941 and had been the captain of the cheerleading squad. She went on to get an associate degree and work for a time in New York City for a florist. She married Lt. JG Raymond E. Parry in October 1943. Their marriage lasted 64 years until his death in March of 2009. They had and are survived by seven children. The oldest is Vincent Mary live in New Orleans. Diana Rentz is the only daughter and she lives with her husband Steve in Whitehouse, Ohio. Ed and Helen Parry live in Powhatan, Virginia. Raymond Doc and Barb Parry live in Englewood, Colorado. William Jack lives in Greenville, Tennessee. Roy and Lorrie live in Maumee, Ohio. Scott and Frances live in Monclova, Ohio. In addition to her children she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also, her many dear friends at Creekside Independent Living in Holland. While the Parry family moved to Ohio in 1955 she retained her love of the Adirondack Mountains and Vermont visiting routinely throughout her life. She and her husband also loved to travel in the country side looking for deer, hawks, eagles and had some great bear stories. This love of wild life led her to decorate her house with pictures and paintings of wolves, wild cats and polar bears. Many camping and vacation trips to the sea were built around her love of birds and wild life. She always kept a bird book handy and had a bird feeder near her window. Her husband had graduated from the University of Michigan and she became a big fan of the Michigan Wolverine football program. Since many of their children had attended Ohio State there was always a friendly bet on the big game. She will be missed. The funeral service will be private and memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek Activities Fund Creekside. Arrangements by Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 419 893-7686. Online condolences may be made at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
