Mrs. Daphne Christie Kohler passed away peacefully September 15th in Spokane, Washington surrounded by family. She resided for more than fifty years in Maumee, Ohio, where she was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church. Born in Vancouver, B.C., she left Canada with her mother and brother for St. Petersburg, Florida and then Ithaca, New York after the premature death of her father. In Ithaca, she met Harold Emerson Kohler, a US Navy Ensign, at a Cornell college dance. They married later that year on August 25, 1945 in Springfield, Massachusetts and initially made their home in Schenectady, New York. She lost her beloved husband of fifty-six years in 2002. Daphne attended Cornell University and subsequently received her BA in Education from Bowling Green State University. She taught high school home economics in the Maumee/Toledo area for sixteen years. Daphne was an avid homemaker, gardener and volunteer worker. She was an elder, deacon, mission-commission member, Sunday school teacher and confirmation mentor at First Presbyterian. St. Paul
