Danny Day

September 27, 1950 — May 26, 2025

Danny Joe Day, age 74, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Cleveland Clinic on Monday, May 26, 2025. Danny was born on September 27, 1950, to Paul Day Sr. and Hazel (Shrewsbury) Day in Besoco, West Virginia. Danny was a graduate of Macomber High School, and of Stautzenberger College with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He worked for BP Refinery for 25 years, retiring in August of 2014. Danny was a proud Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Navy Seabees. He retired from the reserves in June of 2001.

Danny enjoyed many things in life after retirement such as bowling, golfing, and umpiring youth baseball. He was an usher for the Huntington Center for 10 years. He also enjoyed his Sunday services at Foundation Stone Christian Church, and always was rooting for his favorite OSU Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers. Danny was a lifetime member of the Northwood VFW Post #2984 where he was part of their Honor Guard, and the Rossford Eagles # 2322. His favorite past-time was spending time with family and friends. From the many family vacations he organized over the years, down to the smallest of gatherings. We will all miss his famous "Dad Omelets" and " Pappaw Burgers". Danny was always willing to lend a helping hand, from wiring and remodeling homes, down to just making people laugh with his awkward "Dad Jokes". His infectious smile will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express gratitude for the compassionate care he received during his valiant fight over the last two years to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, Mercy St. Vincents Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic.

Danny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah (Harvey) Day; children, Tanya, Robin (Andrew) Urban; grandchildren, Isaac (Hannah) Urban, Olivia (Nate) Kutz, Austin; great grandchildren, Evelyn Kutz and Noah Urban; sisters-in-law, Candace (Ronald) Rowland, Shawn (James) Hicks, Mary Day, Grace (Steve) Grossmann, Louise Day; brother-in-law Willard Long; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of a family of 12 children. He was preceded in death by parents, Paul Sr and Hazel; brothers, Frank, Paul Jr., David, Robert, James, Jerry; and sisters, Geneva, Shirley, Linda, Sarah, Penny.
