Daniel T. Wilhelm

Daniel “Dan” T. Wilhelm, 71, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Mercy-St. Vincents Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Richard T. and Elizabeth A. (Notheis) Wilhelm. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Christine “Chris” L. (Hall) in Toledo, Ohio in December of 1990.

Dan got interested in his first career as a boy riding along with his father, delivering dairy products to homes and businesses. After high school, he began working at Babcock Dairy. He later decided that a career in the insurance industry was more suitable. He started that career as an agent with the Prudential Life Insurance Company in Maumee, Ohio, where he met Chris and they eventually married. In 1998, they started the Ottawa County Agency, LLC –Dan Wilhelm Insurance in Genoa, Ohio. Over the years, through hard work and long hours the agency grew, and after 22 years they sold the agency in 2020. Dan continued to work part time for the agency until 2022 when he officially retired.

Dan loved detailing his cars and listening to Classic Rock while he tinkered in the garage. Every year he participated in the Wilhelm / Bundy golf outing where he sometimes performed brilliantly and sometimes not so much. Pictured is the Broken Club Award his brother Dew awarded him for his golfing prowess. Dan found motivational quotes very helpful in his sales profession, and introduced his nephew Mark to them at an early age which Mark says had an invaluable impact on him.

After retirement, Dan continued to stay busy and fit. He lifted weights and worked out, played golf with his brothers and friends at various golf courses around the area and worked on projects around the house. For several years, he and Chris enjoyed camping at Eagle Lake Camping Resort in Gibsonburg, Ohio.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Chris, daughter, Summer L. (Ryan) Marrs, granddaughter, Bailey Marrs, mother-in-law Elaine Hall, siblings, Deb (Rich) Srednick, Douglas (Nancy) Wilhelm, Dewey (Jenny) Wilhelm, sister-in-law Pat Wilhelm, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert (Mary Jo) Hall, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Terry (Ken) Belkofer, 14 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Elizabeth, his brother Richard Wilhelm, his father-in-law Donald Hall, and nephew Thomas Hall

There is no service planned at this time, but Dan and Chris's families will be celebrating his life at a future date whenever everyone can attend. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa, Ohio is assisting with arrangements.
