Daniel E. Steinmetz, age 44, of Sylvania, died January 29, 2016. Dan was born August 31, 1971 in Toledo. He married Kelly Breeden on September 6, 2014 at Oak Openings in Whitehouse, Ohio and she lovingly survives. Also left to cherish his memory are his father and step mother, Melvin and Wanda Steinmetz; step children, Eric, Evan and Ethan Breeden; siblings, Dennis Steinmetz, Joan Soldenwagner, Diane Steinmetz, Joe (Lorie) Steinmetz, John (Juli) Steinmetz, Rose (Dennis) Benning, Jane (Roger) Hineline and Judy Steinmetz; four step siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. His mother, Rita (Stein) Steinmetz, preceded him death. Dan was a 1990 graduate of Central Catholic High School and was employed with the Harmon Sign Company in Toledo. A true patriot, Dan was very proud of his service in the United States Army Airborne Forces. He attained the rank of Specialist after serving two tours of duty. He loved riding his Harley and was a member of the Harley Owners Group Glass City Chapter #3753. In his free time, Dan also enjoyed working outdoors, attending the sporting events of his step sons and playing with his rescue dog, Daisy. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and fierce loyalty to family and friends. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road) where services to honor Dans life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016. A funeral procession escorted by the Patriot Guard and military honors accorded by the United States Army will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
