Daniel O. Ngur

February 2, 1951 — April 18, 2022

Daniel O. Ng ur, age 71, of Sylvania, went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2022, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on February 2, 1951 in Benue State, Nigeria to the late David and Kazai Ngur-Adi. Highly intelligent and driven by an incredible work ethic, Dan graduated from Bristol Missionary School, then Sokoto Federal Government College, before earning his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria. Dan remained at the university and taught Pharmacy for more than 10 years; moreover, he also served as a visiting professor in Czechoslovakia. In October of 1988, he was given the opportunity to do post-doctoral research in Neuropharmacology at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. After his family joined him in March of 1989, Dan went on to work in research at the University of Toledo Department of Pharmacy for three years before entering the practice of pharmacy at various local pharmacies until retirement in 2016. Dan loved medicine, but above all, his faith and love for God also moved him to help heal bodies and souls. Dan was relentless in his pursuit of truth and love, sharing it with others in every way he could including fostering more than 100 children with his family through Lucas County Children’s Services. He quietly and patiently carried his cross, following God’s will for his life day by day. Dan will be most remembered for choosing the Christ-like way of living and sharing God’s presence with the world.

Left to cherish his living memory and carry on his legacy are his wife, Nema; children, Terwase (Amanda) Ngur, Ember Ngur, Nguumbur (Ray) Eads, Erdoo Ngur, Bem Ngur, and Mwuese Ngur; grandchildren, Luna Grace, L ondon Lee, and Theodore “Teddy” Abeo; and siblings, Hannah Ityohegh, Emmanuel Ngur, Gideon Ngur, Anande Ngur, Dorcas Awuhe, Kwadoo Ngur, Ruth Uye, Joshua (Patricia) Ndur and innumerable relations and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Ngur.

The celebration service for Dan’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. The funeral ceremony can be viewed via live stream beginning at 10:25 a.m. by clicking on the Tribute Wall of this page.
