Daniel J. Marik, 90, of Oak Harbor, died Thursday morning December 20, 2007, in the Genoa Care Center. He was born July 18, 1917, in Newburgh, Ohio, to John G. and Josephine Kleisner Marik. On March 30, 1946 he married Mildred L. Marik in Palmyra, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on February 14, 2006. Daniel enjoyed woodworking and carving and for over 40 years was a carpenter working in and amongst numerous homes in the Oak Harbor area. He worked for the Erie Army Depot, Bahs Carpentry and Priesman, Burdine Douglas. Daniel also worked for Matthews Boat Company. He was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, where he served as a council member. Daniel also took great honor in constructing various items for the church. Others hobbies included gardening and helping his wife Mildred with the Bethel stamp project. Daniel was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Europe for four years during WWII. He is survived by his children, Carolyn A. Watson of Oak Harbor, David Marik of Oak Harbor, Nancy E. Marik of Sylvania, Marian B. Ronald Clark of Oak Harbor, and John L. Karen Marik of Elmore, grandchildren, Jennifer Richard Malia of New Jersey, Stephanie Fred Deneau of Fremont, Tom Watson of Sandusky, Andrew and Megan Marik of Elmore, and Joshua and Amanda Clark of Oak Harbor; great grandchildren, Alex and Ricky Malia of New Jersey. His parents, wife, and brother, Robert Marik preceded him in death. The funeral service for Daniel will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2007, in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with interment to follow in Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. The family suggests memorials to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
