Daniel J. Lucius

Daniel J. Lucius, 33, of Oak Harbor, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, November 15, 2018. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on October 16, 1985, the son of Mary E. Lucius. He was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School and Penta Career Center and was currently employed by Riverview Industries of Oak Harbor. Dan died doing what he loved-responding to a call with the Carroll Township Fire and EMS Department. Where others may have seen limitations, Dan demonstrated determination. Despite having to overcome many obstacles throughout his life, Dan became a volunteer firefighter accredited by the State of Ohio, a member of the Ottawa County Fair Board and was soon to appear in his first Playmakers performance in Port Clinton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Oak Harbor. No one was a stranger to Dan. He will always be remembered for his warm caring personality and his infectious laugh. Survivors include his mother, Mary of Oak Harbor, aunts, Rose Kessler of Green Bank, WA, Janet Lucius of Columbus, OH, Karen Lucius of Curtice, OH, Brenda Lucius of Tiffin, OH, and honorary aunt, Sonia Eischen of Martin, OH; uncles, Larry Lucius of Fostoria, OH, and David (Janie) Lucius of Tiffin, OH, as well as numerous cousins and friend, Jeromy Bellamy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Elizabeth Lucius, sister, Lisa Walker, and uncle, James Kessler. Visitation for Dan will be held 2-8 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the Oak Harbor High School in the lobby of the auditorium. The fire department will conclude visitation at 7:45 p.m., as they pay their respects to Dan and his family. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 N. Church St., Oak Harbor. A firemans service will be conducted immediately following the Mass, in the church. Burial will then be in the Salem Township Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor, where the Carroll Township Fire EMS will conduct the final call service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be directed to the Carroll Township Fire EMS Department, 11080 W. Toussaint East Rd., Oak Harbor, OH 43449; or Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23453. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Oak Harbor has assisted the family with arrangements.
