Daniel Dan J. Long, 87, of Genoa died Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2009, in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born July 13, 1921, in Martin, Ohio, to Harley J. and Agnes V. OBrien Long. On March 30, 1974, in Bono, Ohio, he married Emily T. Dreier, who survives him. Dan was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Bono. He enjoyed his lifetime of farming and enjoyed discussing farming with his many friends. He was a member of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau, the Ohio Farmers Union, and the Elks Lodge of Maumee, Ohio. Having served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Dan was also a member of the Genoa American Legion Post #324. He loved to dance and travel to Florida during the winter months. In addition to his wife, Emily, Dan is survived by his cousin, Dorthea Walter Berger of Curtice, brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald Rose Marie Dreier, Don Doris Dreier, Karl Rosemary Dreier, James Jimmie Dreier, Edna Lau, Ruth Edward CaJacob, and Iva Jack Baker. His parents, sister, Kathleen M. Long, and brother, Joseph A. Long, preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2009, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2009, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Bono, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family has suggested contributions in Dans memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #3, Genoa, or the Genoa Area Local Schools Scholarship Foundation.
