Daniel Lawrence

February 28, 1941 — March 5, 2025

Daniel “Danny” Prentiss Lawrence, known for his unwavering kindness and wonderful sense of humor, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 28, 1941, to John “Cap” and Muriel Lawrence, Dan lived a remarkable life where he always found the good in every situation. He was born in Toledo, Ohio and spent his childhood throughout Toledo, Liberty Center, Delta and Maumee. He attended Scott High School as well as Macomber Vocational & Technical High School.

Dan later settled down in Maumee where he raised his family and remained for the rest of his life. He worked at GM Powertrain for 32 years, where he was well loved and made many friends due to his quick wit and ability to make any situation fun. He was incredibly respected for his hard work and reliability in all aspects of his life. Everyone knew Dan could be counted on because he always put others above himself.

Dan brought cheer to everyone that met him and left countless memories behind that will never be forgotten. He loved classic cars, and he owned a variety of them throughout his life. He also loved working in his yard, listening to music, singing karaoke, and spending time with his family. He took pride in his home, and it was truly his favorite place to be. His door was always open, and it was where everyone wanted to be. You could always count on him for a shared laugh, a crazy story, or a song, and if you stayed long enough in “Dan’s Red Room Lounge”, you’d be sure to get all three. He loved to be surrounded by people, so it was important that he was able to see the good in every-one.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Connie Lawrence; his 8 children, Pier McKinney, Laurie (Tim) Lawrence-Toerne, Jack (Kim) Lawrence, Dan (Lori) Lawrence, Jane (Chip) Miller Swartz, Julie (Adam) Flint, Nate (Heather) Davis, and Nick Davis; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Alice Servais, Jack Lawrence, and Ann Baranek; and his beloved dog Marley.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date for Dan’s close friends and family. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
