DANIEL C. KASPER, 86, born to Carl and Angela Kasper, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away June 12, 2026, at Ebeid Hospice Center after a two year battle with MDS and AML.
Dan graduated from the University of Toledo in 1963 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an Industrial option. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. While at the University, he met his wife, Judy, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage while raising their sons, Jeffrey and Gregory.
After graduation, Dan served two years in the Army as a Lieutenant in Ft. Hood, Texas.
In 1976, he purchased Harmon Sign Co. The business had four employees at the time and Dan grew the business to be one of the largest sign companies in the Midwest. Notable projects include the signage for Comerica Park, Ford Field, Texas A&M Stadium, and the Fox Theater in Detroit. Eventually he sold the business to his son, Jeff.
Dan was past chairman of the International Sign Assoc., and past president of the Midwest Sign Assoc. and the Toledo Area Sign Assoc. In 2004, he was awarded the "Kirk L. Brimley Distinguished Service Award" for outstanding service to the sign industry.
In 2004, he was also named Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Toledo College of Engineering.
Dan and Judy enjoyed retirement, dividing their time between their homes in Florida and the Toledo area. They attempted to master the game of golf at Sylvania and Wildcat Run Country Clubs.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff; his parents; and his sister, Karen Case.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his son, Greg; Polly Kasper; and his 7 grandchildren, Paige, Courtney, Lucas, Noah, Mattison, Alexander, and Kyle Kasper. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Patek.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 3:00-7:00 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Dan and Judy Kasper Endowment for Technology at St. Francis DeSales High School, 2323 W. Bancroft St., Toledo, OH 43607.
