Daniel Eugene Hiskey

Daniel Eugene Hiskey, age 78, died on May 3, 2026, at Hospice of NW Ohio. Dan was born on June 26, 1947, in Mansfield OH, moving to Toledo at the age of 6. Dan was raised at the Lucas County Children's Home until graduating from Maumee High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Army in 1966 and served his country in Turkey and the Middle East and Southeast Asia in the field of Military Intelligence, being honorably discharged in 1970. Among other ribbons, Dan was awarded the Vietnam Service and Campaign ribbons.

Returning home, Dan worked midnight shift jobs in the private sector while attending the University of Toledo, graduating with Associate, Bachelor, and Master degrees in 1973-1975 respectively. After graduation, Dan began a 37-year career in the public sector holding various positions at the cities of Toledo and Northwood and Lucas County, first retiring in Feb 2006 but returning to other positions when called upon. He taught a graduate level Public Finance and Budgeting course at the University of Toledo for six years until final retirement in his late 60's.

While Dan leaves no family, he was blessed to have had many special friends during his life and would like to thank his oldest and dearest friends Tom and Kathy Dugan and Jeff and Nancy Johnston for their love and support during the final stages of his illness. Dan had the privilege of working with many co-workers who also became friends and confidants over the years. He appreciated each and every one of them to his final day, especially noting his golfing buddies.
