Daniel Fredric Pappy Detwiler, age 79 of Maumee, OH passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at St. Lukes Hospital. Dan was born on October 18, 1934 in Urbana, OH to Howard and Alice Johnson Detwiler. He was self employed as a barber for 25 years until his retirement. During retirement, Dan worked various jobs around Toledo. Dan was a member of Monclova Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, canning with his wife, Phyllis, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dan served his country during the Korean War. Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Phyllis; Son, Dan Sandee Detwiler; granddaughter, Nikki Carey; grandson, Jason Amy Loch; great-grandchildren, Jayson, Josh, Natalie, Jackson and Justyn Carey; and Teagan and Graham Loch. Also surviving is his brother, Allen Phyllis Detwiler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamara Ann. Family and friends may visit at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Thursday December 19, 2013 from 3-8 pm where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Wakeman Cemetery, Waterville, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Monclova Road Baptist Church 7819 Monclova Rd., Monclova, OH 43542 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
