Daniel James Brickner, age 70, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born in Fostoria, Ohio to Robert and Jane (Robenalt) Brickner. Daniel graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1968. He went on to earn his bachelors degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University. He spent 38 years in sales for Midwest Paper Specialties and the last ten years as a Certified Packaging Consultant for Cutting Edge Converted Products and BGR, Inc. Daniel was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish and a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid reader and a loyal fan of the University of Michigan football team. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, walking, and bike riding. Attending the events of his grandchildren brought him much happiness. Dan touched the lives of many people and he was so grateful to family and friends who supported him throughout his life and especially during his brief illness. His family was a source of great love and joy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol (Bennett) Brickner; son, Brian (Sherie) Brickner; daughter, Courtney (William) Erwin; and cherished grandchildren, Abigail and Allison Brickner, and Olivia and Jackson Erwin. He is also survived by his sister, Suzanne (Brickner) Ruffing and brothers, Richard (Neda) Brickner and Robert Jr. (Patricia) Brickner. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jane Brickner. The Brickner family would like to thank Ebeid Hospice nurse, Debbie, for the compassion and tender care given to Dan and family. It was greatly appreciated. Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo Ohio 43623, on Friday, January 22, 2021 , from 5 to 7 pm. Immediately following visitation, there will be a brief prayer service. Daniel’s final resting place will be Resurrection Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be planned for a later date.
