Dale Edward Shiets

Dale E. “Spot” Shiets, 75, of Port Clinton, OH passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Toledo Hospital, Toledo, OH. He was born on April 26, 1949 in Port Clinton, OH to Clifton “Sid” and Alma (Meacham) Shiets. Dale grew up in Gypsum, OH. He graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army. On August 26, 1977 in Port Clinton, OH he married Debora K. Vollmer, and she survives.


Dale worked as a self-employed carpenter and in construction his whole life. He had a knack for being able to look at something and figure out how to do it.


Dale loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed watching football, including his two favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Dale had a great sense of humor. His family will miss being able to talk sports with him and playing family games together, including cornhole, and he was very competitive and hard to beat.


In addition to his loving wife, Debora, of 47 years, Dale is survived by his children, Melissa Shiets (Hille) and Brian Shiets, 3 grandkids, Nicholas Herevia, Joshua Deluca, and Ariel Shiets, siblings, Jim Shiets, Sally Shiets, and Linda Shiets Firth, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gary and Sydney Shiets.


There will be no services at this time. Dale is being cremated under the direct care of the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Dale can be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
