Dale E. Maier of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on November 19, 2016 at the age of 98. Dale was born August 18, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio and was the seventh of eight children. He graduated from Woodward High School and retired after a long career at Bearings Incorporated in Toledo, Ohio. Dale and his wife Marjorie were avid golfers and longtime members of Tanglewood Golf Course. Dale was a competitive golfer who played many different courses throughout his life and shot his third hole in one at the age of 93. Though he ceased playing two years ago he continued enjoying his love of golf watching it regularly on television, and talking about it with his friends. Recently, while driving past a local golf course, he saw a gentleman ready to take a shot. He couldn’t resist politely yelling out to him “hey, you are using the wrong club!” Dale is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marjorie, his sister Katherine Hartman, nieces and nephews. Preceding Dale in death was his first wife Evelyn Maier, brothers George Brown and Roy Maier, sisters Marjorie Watson, Helen DeLay, Eleanor Bobel, and Harriet Culbertson. Visitation will be on Friday, November 25th from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne Street in Maumee, Ohio (Phone: 419-893-0205). The funeral service will commence at the conclusion of visitation. Burial will be thereafter at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dale’s name can be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church or to other organizations of the donor’s choice.
