Dale C. Hite

March 21, 1927 — April 29, 2016

Dale Charles Hite passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Marys Nursing Home in Felician Village, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He was 89. He was born to Gayford and Lucille (Duffey) Hite on March 21, 1927 and attended Rosary Cathedral Elementary and Scott High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was also honorably discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1951. On February 26, 1949, he married Hilda Angermeier at St. Marys Church, Toledo. She preceded him in death in 2004. Dale worked at the Ottawa Hills Elementary and High Schools for 31 years as head custodian. He loved the students there, and they loved his singing through the halls. One of his shining moments was the year the yearbook was dedicated to him during a school-wide assembly. Before moving to Felician Village in Manitowoc in 2005, Dale was a member of St. Catherine Parish, the American Legion Post 587, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was served as an acolyte for the Diocese of Toledo. Dale is survived by his daughter, Janice (Hite) Hoyt of Manitowoc, WI; daughter-in-law, Patricia (Rupp) Hite, Canal Fulton, OH; six grandchildren, Brian (Courtney) Hoyt, Camas, WA; Julie (Mark) Henrickson, Madison, WI; Elizabeth (Beth) Hoyt and fiance Christopher Page, Los Angeles, CA; Robert (Melissa) Hite of Massillon, OH; David Hite, New Bern, NC; and Alison Hite, Huntington Beach, CA; eight great-grandchildren, Emerson and Quinn Hoyt, Brett, Drew and Grant Henrickson, Alex, Colin and Jacob James Hite; three nephews, August Schug, Rev. Gregory Hite and Allan Hite; one niece, Karin Eisenriech McGuire. Preceding him in death are his son, James Dale Hite; son-in-law, Brett Hoyt; sister, Jeanette (Hite) Ritter; brother, Richard G. Hite, brothers and sisters-in-law and two nephews. Visitation will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 4555 N. Haven Ave, Toledo, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 9 - 11 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM celebrated by his Godson, Father Gregory Hite. Military Rites and interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to Toledo Central Catholic High School or St. Catherines Church.
