In 1942, he took a leave of absence from Standard Products to join the US Navy where he served in WWII and was honorably discharged as a Gunner Mate, 2nd Class in 1945. On June 24, 1944, he married his longtime sweetheart, Margaret J. Carsten, who preceded him in death, August 1996, after 52 years of marriage. Cyril was a proud member of the Moose Lodge 1610 for over 37 years where he held several positions including Governor, Past Governor, Legion of the Moose, earning his Fellowship Degree in 1986. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW 2480 and the Eagles Lodge Aerie 2295. Left to cherish his memory are children Diana L. Dan Gouker, Craig H. Sharon Bell Wesley, and Carole L. Bob Schau; grandchildren Michelle L. Randy Farris, Melissa A. Chuck Slauterbeck , and Chad H. Wesley; six great grandchildren, two step great grandsons and one step great-great granddaughter; sister Norma Riedmaier, and many nieces and nephews.
