Cyril “Joe” Berger, Jr., also known as “Hollywood”, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving wife, Deborah, on February 9, 2023.
Joe was born July 27, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Cyril Sr. and Adeline (Rustick) Berger. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1968 and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969. Joe served in Vietnam as a Radio Operator and Air Traffic Controller being honorably discharged in 1975. He established the first Mars Radio Station overseas enabling service people to call home.
Joe was a sales specialist for 40 years, retiring from Morrell Group in 2017.
He was an avid motorcyclist, loved boating and fishing, and enjoyed taking care of his house and yard. He was instrumental in getting the Vietnam Moving Wall to Toledo in June 2004 and organized the Blanket Run to the Sandusky Veteran’s Home. Joe was a member of the VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, Eagles, and Moose clubs. Joe and Deborah enjoyed many memories with cherished friends.
He was one of a kind and had a big heart.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 26 years, Deborah; brother, Michael (Irene); sisters, Veronica (Joseph) Majchszak and Barbara Reichert; brother-in-law, R. Cashman; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pat; and companion dog, Sandy.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) from 2:00 pm until the time of funeral services and Marine Corps honors at 7:00 pm.
Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Restoring Hope - Veteran Service Dogs.
