Cynthia Jean Vroman

October 11, 1949 — October 27, 2018

Cynthia Jean Vroman known to her friends as C.J. passed away in her home unexpectedly October 27th 2018. C.J. was born at Toledo Hospital in October 1949. Fall was always a special and favorite season of hers. Her parents Jeanne and Robert Vroman were blessed with a beautiful and cheerful child and four years later her baby sister Carol was born and they became not only partners in crime but each others defense attorneys, confidants and shrinks. C.J. attended DeVeaux school, Sylvania High School, now Northview, and graduated from the University of Toledo in psychology and education. She joined the family business, Vroman Foods, in 1967 and became VP of customer service until 1988. In 1989 she opened her own company, Cat Care by CJ. C.J. also went to flight school and learned to fly single engine airplanes which she and her father enjoyed. She learned to trap shoot and was competent with a hand gun. C.J. loved to ride her motorcycles until her knees began to bother her. She was extremely knowledgeable about cars and was an enthusiastic driver of her Ford Mustang, and especially her Jeep Wrangler. C.J.s love for animals began early when as a child she and sister Carol would raise red ear slider turtles they bought at the pet store. One of their turtles, Morgan, grew so big they donated him to the Toledo Zoo. She began her lifes mission of rescue and care of cats when she became a certified pet sitter. She also had a heart for all animals and at one time enjoyed owning and riding her horse. Her philanthropy in animal care and rescue is well known not only in Toledo but in other parts of the country as well. She has many friends in the rescue and care of animals and will be missed by all. She was passionate and outspoken about not declawing cats, trap and release of ferals after neutering, and keeping pet cats indoors. C.J. was preceded in death by her grandparents Harry and Evelyn Vroman, Robert and Rowena Lewis, her parents Robert and Jeanne Vroman and her family of beloved cats. She is survived by sister Carol and brother-in-law Cary Loos and nephews Adam and Sam Loos who have many wonderful and wild memories of C.J. As she wished, instead of a memorial service she requested donations to any animal rescue of choice, or Humane Ohio Spay/Neuter Clinic, Planned Pethood in Toledo, The Toledo Area Humane Society, Paws and Whiskers, Toledo Animal Rescue, and Lucas County Pit Crew. She also requested donations to Cherry Street Mission and Racing For Recovery. C.J. expressed great appreciation for Sylvania Vet and West Toledo Animal Hospital as well as Med Vet. Special thanks and appreciation to Walker Funeral Homes who went above and beyond to help with C.J.s special request to donate her body and Martha from the Anatomical Donations Program at the University of Michigan Medical School. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com. “Sister. She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, shes the reason you wish you were an only child.” ― Barbara Alpert
