Cynthia Jean Corfman, age 86, of Toledo, passed away May 3, 2023, at her home. She was born August 21, 1936, in Findlay, Ohio to the late Irvin and Agnes (Sprunger) Conrad. She spent her early years in Wapakoneta. Her family relocated to Toledo and Cynthia graduated from Whitmer High School in 1954. She attended Bluffton College, where she met her husband Don, and returned to school later, earning a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Toledo in 1965. She taught for more than 30 years at Oakdale Elementary School, primarily teaching the deaf and hard of hearing.
Cynthia loved music and was skilled in both piano and organ, and she loved to sing. She was a member of Collingwood Presbyterian Church for 60 years, where she sang in the choir, played handbells and was assistant organist. She played for many weddings and funerals. Cynthia was also a member of the Perrysburg Chorale. She enjoyed volunteering her time in several different organizations in service to others. Her retirement was filled with foreign and domestic travel, one of her greatest passions. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, especially her seven grandchildren. Cynthia was very close to each of her grandkids and cherished each moment with them, instilling many family traditions that will be continued by the younger generations.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Julie (Doug) Cory, David (Patty) Corfman, and Liz (Dan) Cunningham; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Makenzie) Cory, Alyse Cory, Bradley Corfman, Kelly (Chuck) DeBrosse, Taylor (Mike) Drudi, Travis Cunningham, and Lexi (CJ) Martin; great granddaughter, Ella Ray Drudi and another great grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald Corfman; her parents and sisters, Nancy Kantner and Kathy Francis.
There will be a reception for family and friends at 2 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Collingwood Presbyterian Church. Cynthia will be laid to rest with her husband at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
