Crispin Rene Ortiz, Sr., 86, of Tavares, FL and formerly of Port Clinton, OH passed away, Saturday April 18, 2009 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, FL. He was born on October 25, 1922 in Jim Wells County, TX to Luis and Dorothea Salinas Ortiz. On October 3, 1942, in Bay City, TX he married Zulema Orta and she preceded him in death in December 1987. Rene was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was previously employed at Standard Products and was a fisherman. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed landscaping and flowers. Rene also enjoyed heavy weight boxing, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #113. Crispin will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: children: Diana Gary London of Sandusky, OH, Ramiro Rita Ortiz of Tavares, FL, Crispin Rene Debbie Ortiz, Jr. of Berlin Heights, OH, Guadalupe Reyna of Castalia, OH, Marianne Schlatter of Venice, FL, Joseph Linda Ortiz of Groveland, FL, Andrea Richard Burnside of Windemere, FL, Olivia Lenz of Sarasota, FL, Alice Timothy Berarducci of Knoxville, TN, Diamond Jerry Isaac of Sandusky, OH; sisters: Olivia Rhodes, Maria Flores, Lilly Leal, 43 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Rene was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Zulema, infant son: Joseph; brothers: Octavio, Chano, Cruz, Guadalupe, sister: Hortencia Colmenro; grandsons: Donald Wilson Rogers and Scott Brian Miller. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2009 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Missler at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 24, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, following family prayers beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Christy Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Heart Association or to the Diabetes Association.
