Constance R Skoski

October 14, 1942 — March 4, 2024

Constance “Connie” R. Skoski

Constance Connie R Skoski, 81, passed away peacefully in her home in Perrysburg, OH, on March 4, 2024.

Connie was born October 14, 1942, in Detroit MI, to Stella and Joseph Stetz. She loved to share stories about her childhood and growing up in Warrendale on the west side of the city. Connie was very proud of her heritage and upbringing and could speak and write fluently in Polish. She attended St Peter and Paul School and this is where the nuns first instructed her to play the organ and piano. Recognizing her aptitude for music, her parents invested in private lessons. By age 13, she had become a regular fixture at weekend Mass as an organist.

Connie graduated from Cody High School in 1960 and then worked in the Detroit Public Schools as a secretary in the Special Education Department, but her true passion was always music. Connie went on to serve as Director of Music at several parishes including, St. Sabina; Dearborn Heights, MI, Blessed Trinity; Frankenmuth, MI, Our Lady of Refuge; Orchard Lake, MI, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help; Toledo, OH. She also taught private piano and voice lessons out of her home for over 40 years, touching hundreds of lives with her gifts and talents.

Connie was a quintessential people person. Her friends referred to her as “the Queen,” a role she took very seriously. Her generous spirit and larger than life personality set her apart. She loved to cook and entertain and had a wonderful penchant for storytelling often leaving her guests in fits of laughter.

But the role Connie relished the most was that of wife, mother, and nana. She loved her family and friends fiercely and never forgot a birthday or other occasion and would always call to make sure they arrived safely to their destination. Connie’s generosity knew no bounds. She never turned down the opportunity to help a friend or family member in need. She was an ardent supporter of the arts, the LGBTQ+ community and the Toledo Humane Society.

Connie leaves behind the love of her life and husband of almost 60 years, Richard Skoski; children, Joseph (Lisel Virkler) Skoski of Pittsburgh, PA, Claire (Ryan) Roudebush of Zionsville, IN and John (Patrick Enck) of Toledo OH; beloved grandchildren Olivia (Austin Lampkin), Grace and Jack Roudebush; lifelong friend Delphine Christensen; sisters-in-law Patricia (Robert) Cepko and Regina (Joseph) Piasecki, many nieces and nephews and special friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, parents-in-law John and Mary Skoski and sister and brother-in-law Pauline and Mitchell Byczek.
