CONSTANCE Z. (ZACHMAN) CORDOVA 1920-2011 Constance Z. Córdova, 90, of Perrysburg, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 1, 1920, in Toledo, OH to Ray E. and Rosalie (Maddy) Zachman. She married Carlos A. Córdova on March 1, 1944. Constance was a graduate of Bowling Green State University earning a Bachelor’s in Education. She taught Headstart for 20 years beginning with its inception. Prior to that, she taught nursery school in Perrysburg and Toledo as part of the war effort for working women taking the trolley car from Perrysburg to work. Constance loved to travel and after retirement made yearly trips to Ecuador, the homeland of her husband and they also traveled extensively to Europe. Constance had a sunny disposition, a positive outlook on life and dedicated her life to helping the poor. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Carlos A. Córdova; children, Carlos “Andy” Córdova, Campbell, CA, Carmen Córdova and Michael Daly, Bexley, OH, Cristina Córdova, Perrysburg, OH, Cecilia (Jay) Richardson, Perrysburg, OH, and Colette Córdova and Stephen Phillips, Toledo, OH.; grandchildren, Michelle Córdova, San Jose, CA, Christopher Córdova, St. John’s , New Foundland, Canada, Dushan Petrovich, New Haven, CT, Urosh Petrovich, Bexley, OH, Audrey Richardson, Washington, D.C., Tyler Richardson, Hilliard, OH, Clay Córdova, Cambridge, MA, Chad Córdova, Princeton, NJ; great-grandchild Adeline Córdova St. John’s, New Foundland, Canada,. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roland and John Zachman, sister, Virginia French, and son, Colin Córdova. Constance’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). The family will receive family and friends prior to the memorial service from 2 p.m. to 4p.m. Private burial will be at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery in Perrysburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Heifer Foundation, Area Office on Aging Caregiver Support Program, the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
