Constance Urschel Alexander

Constance Urschel Alexander, age 85, died on October 2, 2017 in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on March 24, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Elizabeth Schenck Urschel and George C. Urschel. She is survived by her husband, Gregory G. Alexander, her children, Elizabeth F. Gregory of Goldendale, Washington, and Douglas G. Alexander of Dallas, Texas, a granddaughter, Evelynn Larson, and her children as well as Connies brother, Joseph (Martha) J. Urschel of Sarasota, Florida and five nieces and nephews. Connie was a graduate of Ottawa Hills High School and Northwestern University. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America and a direct descendant of six Colonial Governors: Governor John Winthrop I of Massachusetts, Governor John Winthrop II of Connecticut, Governor Joseph Dudley of Massachusetts, Governor Thomas Dudley of Massachusetts, Governor Joseph Wanton of Rhode Island, and Governor William Wanton of Rhode Island. Connie was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she married in 1956, a member of the Junior League of Toledo and the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a volunteer and board member of Planned Parenthood or Northwest Ohio and a volunteer at the Toledo Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Toledo Country Club and the Quail Creek Country Club in Naples, Florida. Connie currently is a member of St. Michaels in the Hills Episcopal Church. The family wishes to thank those who gave their love and support to Connie, especially Chaplain Paul Benjamin of Swan Creek, Faith Cataldo of Visiting Angels, Rev. John Hagan, and the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Swan Creek. It was Connies wish that any memorials be given to the Toledo Zoo, P.O. Box 140130, Toledo,Ohio 43614, St. Michaels in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4718 Brittany Road, Ottawa Hills, Ohio 43615, Ohio Living Swan Creek Foundation, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43614 or Planned Parenthood (Toledo Chapter) 266 East State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Burial will be private at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 4718 Brittany Road, Ottawa Hills, Ohio. Friends may greet the family in the churchs dining room immediately following the service.
