Connie Jo Lange (Michael), 61 years old of Sylvania, OH, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on November 4th, 2023, after an all-too-short battle with cancer. Family, with the incredible support of ProMedica Hospice, helped make her final journey full of love, laughter and memories.
Born December 31st, 1961 to Leonard and Evelyn Michael, she was the 7th of seven children. Connie graduated from the Toledo School of Nursing and spent twelve years as an OB nurse at Toledo Hospital, and most recently, the last eighteen years as a private duty nurse for a patient who became more like family. Earlier this year, Connie graduated from the Toledo School of Ministry, becoming ordained as a pastor in the final month before her passing. Though, she’d been doing the work of a pastor far before that.
Connie was a woman who wore the heart of Jesus on her sleeve. Bold and unashamed, she shared the love of Christ wherever she went. A faithful servant of God, she was always on the lookout for where she could be used to preach the gospel, chasing after the people no one else would. For so many, she was a guidepost and an example of what it truly meant to be poured out like a drink offering, and the fruit of her work had been made manifest by the amount of love and support that flooded to her side in her final season.
Connie’s greatest joys were her grandkids: Rosie, Lucas and Cullen. Whenever she could, she enjoyed making train tracks, swinging, brownie making, and snuggling while watching “tee-wee”. Connie also loved finding a good deal at a garage sale or estate sale and loved “running errands” to Homegoods or TJ Maxx with her daughters. A great deal of her time was also spent volunteering for several local ministries, including The Haven, the Lewis House, and The Storehouse. She was always willing to lend a helping hand or a meaningful prayer.
Preceding her in death were her parents, as well as brothers: John (Michael), and David (Michael), and Nephew Alex (Michael). Connie is survived by her three children, Kristin (Chris) Allen, Molly (Daniel) O'Shea and Robert (Christina) Lange along with three grandchildren as well as brother Bill (Joan) Michael, sister Pat (Fred) Leachman, sister Vicki (Don) Means, brother Joe (Cindy) Michael, a nephew that became more like a son, John Michael, as well as many more nieces, nephews and their children..
Friends are invited to celebrate Connie’s life with a visitation at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave, from 2pm-7pm on Thursday, November 9th. Service will be the following day, Friday, November 10th, at 10 am.
