Connie Schad Lake

Connie Schad Lake, 70, of Port Clinton went into the ring, laced up her boxing gloves, and went one too many rounds with cancer. Had it been for her attitude, spirit and determination, she would have won the fight, but her body couldn’t handle the blows of the cancer and she lost the fight on Tuesday, February 07, 2017. She was raised in Battle Creek, MI, by her parents, Alta Ed Blodgett. She graduated from St. Phillips High School; where you “don’t piss off the nuns” class of 1964. She married her best friend, Bill Lake and put up with him for 48 years. They were like peas and carrots, mashed potatoes gravy, paper glue, peanut butter jelly, Jack and Coke. They were inseparable. Together they raised their children Thomas (Sport) Lake who inherited Connie’s beautiful curly hair and Jennifer Lake-Simpson who did not inherit the beautiful curly hair, they both inherited her pretty blue eyes though. Later on whether, she liked it or not her son-in-law, Dow Simpson came into the picture. Then came the apples of her eyes, her grandchildren, Rachel and Dylan Simpson and Mackenzie Lee Lake. Christmas Eve was her holiday with her grandchildren that will be forever cherished. Ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner was ok at Grandma Lake’s house. Connie lived life to the fullest, loved to be with family and friends. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, blue eyes and that curly hair. Her sense of humor, her deep love of family and just her presence will be deeply missed. May you rest peacefully, we love you Mom. A gathering of family friends will be held from 2-4PM, Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00PM. Memorial donations in memory of Connie may be given to the family.
