Colleen “Sue” Willhauck, 72, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 peacefully at her home in Toledo, Ohio following an extended illness. She was surrounded by the love of her family and her canine “security detail” Mandy and Abby. She was born March 18, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to parents Mildred “Millie” (Keefe) and Henry “Hank” Rose. After her parent’s divorce, Sue’s mother, Millie, would go on to remarry Robert “Bob” Wood. Bob loved Sue and her siblings as his own. Her blended family consisted of one sister and four brothers. She hired in at Jeep in 1977 where she worked with her fiancé James “Twitch” Eckhart. Jeep is where she also first met Deb Schufelt. They hired in on the same day, became friends and retired together after 32+ years. Sue and Deb remained close, sharing a lifelong bond of friendship that was rare and special. Sue loved nature, all animals and children, especially her great granddaughter, Shayna Elsyn, and her great nephew, Hudson Jay. Sue would be best described as a woman whose life was a testimony of living sacrifice to her family. She was extremely empathic and had a heart full of compassion. Her Love for her family was unwavering, always keeping her girls (Candee, Seancy, and Shayna) rooted deep within her heart and soul. If someone was sick or needed help of any kind, she was there wholeheartedly, no question. She would also be described as a self-made woman with an unapologetic personality, hard-working, strong willed and very independent. If something needed fixed, she was going to fix it (with a hammer and duct tape) and you didn’t dare tell her she was doing it wrong! God love her! She is survived by her loving partner for over 25 years, James Eckhart; beloved daughter, Candace (Cutshaw) Williams; beloved granddaughter, Seancy Schnapp; great granddaughter, Shayna Elsyn (who put the smile in her heart!); and stepsons, Billy and Ryan Willhauck. Also survived by brothers, Henry “Sonny” Rose (Sandra), Robert “Bobby” Rose (Kathy), Tim Rose (Pat); and many nieces and nephews. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Robert Wood and Henry and Helen Rose; brother, Sean Wood; and sister Cheryl Misch. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of NW Ohio for their outstanding medical care and compassion provided to Sue. At Sue’s request there will be no funeral service, however, her family will hold a private memorial to celebrate her life. Arrangements were entrusted to Walker Funeral Home, Toledo (419-841-2422).
