Clyde Edsel Lentz, 91, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH, surrounded by his loving family. Clyde was born on August 06, 1927 in Oklahoma, the son of Elmer and Ina Ala (Barnes) Lentz. On September 04, 1949, he married Barbara Ann Rhude and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2002. Clyde worked as a chemical engineer for Standard Products for over 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Clyde celebrated 30 years of sobriety and was very active in the recovery committee. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Clyde was a top donor for the American Red Cross and was very active with the Ottawa County Republican party. He volunteered at Stein Hospice in Sandusky. Clyde was a member of the Port Clinton Camera Club, Playmakers, Port Clinton Rotary and the American Legion Post #113. Those left to cherish his memory are: Daughter: Karen Daup; Granddaughter: Lindsey (Zac Doust) Daup; Grandson: Nicholas (Nicole) Clemons and Great-Grandchildren: Connor Clemons and Makenna Garza. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings: Avon Lentz, Ray Lentz, Maxine Bulkowski, Mary Ellen Smith and Polly Davis. Visitation will be 2-4 6-8pm, Thursday, November 01, 2018 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Annette L. Dimond at 10:30am, Thursday, November 02, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH, with a military graveside service. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice or the American Red Cross.
