Clifford Glenn Hiestand passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. He was 72. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, Ohio. Visitation with family 3:00-6:45, Masons Rites @ 7:00. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
Cliff was born on Monday, May 12, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio to Carol Merrie Bowles and Glenn Adams Hiestand, Jr. He had 3 sisters Christine and Debbie and later Kendra plus Sam, his younger brother. He graduated from Calvin M. Woodward High School in 1970 and furthered his education at ITT Technical Institute in Dayton, Ohio. An accomplished Architect, his career spanned his entire life until his death. His craft has been felt from Toledo and beyond, as many buildings, homes, and other structures were created by him. Cliff also taught Computer Aided Design (CAD) at Owens Community College at the Perrysburg Campus for many years.
On September 23, 1980, he married Roberne L. Fitzgerald, together they raised two sons, Jeffrey Michael and Robert Glenn. They later divorced in 2022.
Cliff was passionate about Ohio State Buckeye Football, family, and Freemasonry. His circle of friends included fellow Masons and many from his childhood when he, his mom, and sisters lived on Bush Street in North Toledo. His family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren, whom he described as his world.
Clifford, who followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Jack W. Bowles, became a Freemason. Cliff was enormously proud of his Masonic heritage and history. His leadership included serving as Past Master of Triad and Barton Smith Lodges, Fort Meigs and Fort Miami Calumet, Toledo Council, Past Illustrious Master (PIM) of Toledo and Calumet Council, Toledo, and St. Omer Commandery, Past Commander of Toledo and St. Omer, KYCH Ohio Priory #18.
Clifford is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Heather) of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Robert (Ashley) of Jackson Michigan. His grandchildren; Samantha of Mason County WV, Tyler of Morgantown WV as well as Noah, Kden, Kohl, and Jaxen of Jackson, Michigan. His sisters; Christine (Mike) Lehman of Marshall, Minnesota, Debbie of Toledo Ohio, and Kendra (Jeff) Stewart of Luckey Ohio. His brother, Sam of Toledo. His stepfather, Vasilios Papademos of Statesville NC. His uncle Bill (Audrey) Bowles of Belgium, Wisconsin and Aunt Mary Stroh of Clarkston Michigan as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins
He was preceded in death by his parents; Glenn and Carol and his nephews, John Nusbaum and Buddy Hiestand.
