Clifford J. Campbell, age 90, of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Village of Wolf Creek Holland, OH on Sunday, August 1, 2010. In his 90 years, Cliff loved, and was loved by many people. To his wife, he was a loving husband for over 65 years. To his son and daughter, he was a role model and loving father. To his grandchildren, he was someone who was always ready to listen and celebrate their successes or to share his own life experiences. And to his great grandchildren, he will be the subject of hundreds of stories that will tell them where they come from. As his wife has said many times, He was one of a kind. Cliff was a toolmaker by trade, employed by Lord Corporation for 31 years. He retired as a Manufacturing Engineer in 1982. His hard work and knowledge of his craft earned him the respect of those he worked with. He attended Our Lady of Peace Church for over 50 years. Cliff was a member, and served as President of the Quarter Century Club, and was a long-time member of both the Zukor Club and East Erie Turners. He often spoke about the wonderful memories he had of the monthly dinners with his Zukor Club friends. Many of Cliffs friendships were built and maintained on the golf course. It was an enjoyment he was unable to continue later in life due to arthritis, but his 19th hole stories were recalled often over the years. He has rejoined his golf buddies, many of whom have preceded him, and they are now teeing off down Heavens fairway. Those who knew him in his final years, at his adopted home in Lutheran Village, will remember him rolling down the hallways in his motorized wheelchair, which he liked to call his Cadillac. Those in Erie will remember him rolling down the streets in the actual Cadillac he so enjoyed, on his way to the course or to wherever the grandkids wanted to go. Clifford Campbell lived a long life of dedication to family and friends, a life which brought tremendous happiness to all who knew him. Those who bear the weight of his absence most heavily cannot describe the loss in words, nor can they adequately describe the pride they feel having known him so well for so long. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Campbell and Muriel Flower Campbell; 2 brothers, Robert and William Campbell; and sister, Katherine Campbell Wickham. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Clark Campbell; his children, Richard J. Campbell and Marilyn Campbell Tyson; son-in-law, Michael Tyson; 9 grandchildren, Darren Campbell, Stephanie Campbell Nowacinski, Douglas Campbell, Sheena Campbell, Devin Campbell, Melissa Campbell, Meghan Campbell, Shane Pransky and Brett Pransky; 10 great-grandchildren, Jacek and Marek Nowacinski, Zack, Christopher and Anna Campbell, Bryce Campbell, Rogan and Mikah Pransky, Sarah and Nathan Pransky. A Memorial service, officiated by Rev. Anthony Recker from St. Joan of Arc Parish, will be held at the Lutheran Village of Wolf Creek Chapel, 2001 Perrysburg-Holland Rd., Holland, OH on August 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
