Clarice L. Brown

Clarice L. Brown,  age 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo.  Clarice was born April 28, 1925 in Port Clinton, OH to Fred and Inza Dietrich.  She was a 1943 graduate of Port Clinton High School and was a competitive roller skate dancer in Oak Harbor.  Clarice worked as a waitress throughout the years at a number of fine dining establishments in the Toledo area.  She most recently worked at Walmart until her declining health caused her to leave.  Clarice enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, and feeding birds.  She loved animals and would often take in and care for stray dogs. Clarice was preceded in death by husbands, Ed Kowalczk and Robert Brown; grandson, Nicholas Kowalczk; brothers, Ken and Jim Dietrich; and her parents.  She is survived by her children, Ken and Denise Kowalczk; grandchildren, Kendra and John Kowalczk; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) from 2-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Area Humane Society, 1920 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee, OH 43537 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 E.
