Claire Vossler Asmus

Claire Vossler Asmus, 98, of South Toledo, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 17, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, to her late parents Fred and Hazel (Griffin) Vossler. She graduated from Libbey High School in 1943 and worked as a lab technician in Toledo Hospital for over 30 years. She was a highly intelligent woman who enjoyed learning and she had a great memory. Among her many talents, she was athletic, artistic, and a very skilled painter. In her spare time, she loved flower gardening, bird watching, writing letters, watching cooking shows, and reading mystery novels alongside National Geographic magazines.


Claire married Charles Arthur Asmus and they were married until his passing in 2008. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a strong, sharp, quick-witted personality and her memory will be cherished by her family.


She is survived by her daughter, Victoria E. Asmus; grandchildren, Carla Asmus Everly, Christie (Joe) McEwan; great-grandchildren, John Charles Klein IV, Olivia Grace Everly, Sophie and Cooper McEwan; sister, Sybil Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Arthur Asmus.
