Christopher Gerhard Orosco, 59, of Port Clinton, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Riverview Healthcare Campus following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born on January 7, 1965, in Toledo, Ohio, to Adam and Victoria (Olvera) Orosco. Chris was a loving son, father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
At the age of 17, Chris left high school to proudly serve in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, before being deployed to Germany during the Cold War. Chris served as a missile crewman in Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 84th Field Artillery, 56th Field Artillery Brigade from August 1982 until February 1984, where he was then promoted to Sergeant at just 19 years old. His military service, which he cherished, reflected his dedication to his country.
After returning home, Chris started a family and worked for many years as a machine maintenance operator. His strong work ethic, sense of humor, and big heart were a constant presence in the lives of his loved ones. Chris enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and he was always ready with a smile, a joke, and a helping hand. He was particularly passionate about his Hispanic roots, sharing his love of Mexican music, dancing, and his delicious homemade meals with those around him. He was also a fan of playing pool and had a fondness for classic television shows like The Carol Burnett Show and The Johnny Carson Show.
Chris is survived by his mother, Victoria Orosco; his son, Christopher Michael Orosco; siblings, Mark Olvera, Ada Orosco, Rebecca (Guy) Marcus, Adam (Randi) Orosco; and many loving friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
