Christine Moore

October 17, 1937 — February 11, 2022

Christine Martha (Hill) Moore of Toledo, Ohio, born October 17, 1937, to the late Lawrence Irving Hill and Catherine Emily (Mengel) Hill, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, February 11, 2022. The Toledo native was a 1955 graduate of Maumee High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Chris met her future husband Howard (Howie) Moore on a blind date when she was 18. They dated for only a few months before eloping. They were dedicated life partners, one in marriage, who prioritized their children.

Chris began working at Dana Corporation in the 1950’s as a secretary leaving when she was called to motherhood. She returned to work at Dana in the 90’s as a corporate event manager overseeing board of director and other management meetings. As a byproduct of her and her husband’s careers, Chris and Howie enjoyed traveling stateside as well as abroad with family and friends. Notable journeys included a 1969 cross-country road trip from Detroit to California with The Dolby’s, a two-week stint in the 70’s to Venezuela and Colombia, several European ventures, sharing special times in Fort Myers/Naples, Florida, with life-long friends Jim and Mary Ann Henricks, as well as mother/daughter trips to France visiting dear friends Philippe and Anita Jean and to Hendersonville, North Carolina, sharing laughs with Dick and Jackie Krupp. Chris and Howie loved to return hospitality shown to them during their travels by entertaining in their home.

Chris was determined, strong-willed, and a wonderful listener. She was a selfless mother and grandmother who prioritized the immediate needs of her family and friends while remaining steadfast to herself. Chris was meticulous and passionate as showcased in her extensive genealogical records. She would go on hereditary investigative trips, both domestically and internationally, with her life-long high school friend Anne (Park) Kimble and her husband Jim to track down ancestral records. Chris volunteered her time at Crosby Gardens as well as Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Chris also had a special affinity for animals, sewing, gardening, cooking and decorating. She loved to laugh and appreciated a good sense of humor, particularly that of her late husband Howie, son Troy, son-in-law Matt and in-home caregiver Michele.

Surviving her are her brother Gregory Hill (Patti), daughter, Kelly C. (Moore) Floyd (Matthew), and granddaughters Kaitlin, Kelsey, and Mackenzie Moore. Preceding her in death are her husband Howard E. Moore, Jr., son Troy L. Moore, brother Lawrence Hill (Carol) and sister Mary (Hill) Walp. Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Walker Funeral Home on Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. Chris’ family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of the caregivers and nurses who showed mercy and compassion to her over the years.
