She kept traditions going, hosting Thanksgiving dinner at her house for the family, and

their Christmas and Easter tradition, making Platzak, (Polish coffee cake). Her parents told their children never to make it because it was too much work. But in 2018 Chris and her brother started the tradition again.

Chris passed away on December 13, 2022 at the age of 70, in Carolina Shores, North Carolina.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Edward A. Drzewiecki and Rita (Odorzynski) Drzewiecki. She was the first of three children.

Growing up in Toledo she was a Girl Scout; and she worked in the principal’s office at DeVilbiss High School, so she always knew who was in trouble. She graduated in 1970.

She was an avid golfer. When the Ladies PGA tournament was held in Toledo, she would host ladies from the tournament in her home. She liked gardening and enjoyed keeping a beautiful home and garden. And she enjoyed a Cosmopolitan on the patio. Her favorite flower was the orchid. Her favorite adventure was a ride in a hot air balloon.

Starting from childhood she was very strong. So when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2004, and went through several surgeries, she showed her courage in facing life challenges with a very positive attitude and a smile. Her doctor told her she was the bravest patient he ever had, she never complained. She was strong, fearless and beautiful. She believed anything was possible. Their success let her see her daughter, whom she loved unconditionally, get married and see her two grandsons, who are the light of her life.

Chris retired in September, 2016 from HCR/Manor Care in Toledo, Ohio where she worked in the Corporate Workers Compensation Department. Prior to that she worked for many years in the Human Resources Department at Acklin Stamping Division of Tecumseh Products in Toledo and transferred to the Tecumseh Products facility in Clinton, Michigan.

Upon retirement she moved to Carolina Shoes, NC, where she and her domestic partner enjoyed a circle of friends. She would not miss a Grandparent’s Day, even when she lived in NC and the grandchildren lived in OH.

She is survived by her domestic partner: Jay A. Leifheit, daughter: Chelsea Darvas Bella, (Michael), two grandsons: Carter Michael Bella and Calvin Darvas Bella, brother: Anthony Drzewiecki (Suzanne) and sister: Cynthia Manders

Final Resting Place: Riverside Cemetery, 1595 W. River Road, Maumee, Ohio
