It is with the deepest sorrow we announce that Christian Alexander Jones (“Jonesy”) age 24, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend, passed suddenly on Monday, December 7, 2020 while serving in the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska. Christian grew up in Toledo, Ohio, where he attended Anthony Wayne Schools. He was an avid soccer player, and some of Christian’s fondest memories were his times on and off the field with his team mates. He enjoyed all kinds of music, always citing another song to listen to, to express a moment or feeling. Christian had an open heart and enjoyed people from all walks of life, always giving of himself if it made someone else’s life better. He aspired to follow in his father’s footsteps, learning the stonework trade, intending to return to that following his days in the service. He was creative, energetic, charismatic, and his spirit lit up the room whenever he entered. He is a light that no-one can extinguish in our hearts. While serving in the U.S. Army, Christian achieved the rank of Specialist, E4, 11B Scout. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, and Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge Sharpshooter Rifle. He was recognized for selfless service and was awarded a unit coin when he helped a fellow comrade suffering from depression seek help, guiding him to make the right choice to overcome that. He was highly respected by his brothers and his command, and will be missed by all that served with him. We will all remember the funny, charming young man that touched so many lives in such a positive way. In Christian’s words, “He will never be too far.” Forever with us until we meet again in the arms of the Lord. May his soul rest in peace. Christian is the oldest son of Nicola Licata and Sam Jones of Toledo, Ohio. He is survived by his brother Brandon, sisters Madeline and Liza, grandparents Sam and Barbara Jones, grandmother Georgina Coutanche, and many other family members who loved him dearly. Christian’s family will receive friends during a time of visitation at the Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave. Toledo, OH 43623) on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 1PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 5PM, visitation will then continue, following the service, until 7PM. The family will also receive friends on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 9AM until 12:30PM, when the funeral procession will leave for Toledo Memorial Park for the rendering of full military honors at 1PM.
