Chris Jay Tanalski, 56, of Maumee passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo to Jack & Phyllis (Bogart) Tanalski on May 16, 1958. He was a lifelong resident of Maumee and the owner/operator of Sanitary Cleaners for 25 years. Chris attended the International Fabricare Institute where he completed coursework in professional dry cleaning. He previously worked part-time at The Anderson’s. He was a former treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Waterville Area Chamber of Commerce; a former member of the Waterville Rotary; and a former member and president-elect of the Maumee Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his parents, Jack & Phyllis Tanalski, sisters, Debbie (Dennis) Parish and Kathy Weaver; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved canine companions, Barney & Ellie. Chris was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and looked forward to family nights which was a special time with his sisters and parents. He was a most positive spirit and an inspiration to his family and friends especially during his illness. Our family offers a most heartfelt thank-you to Dr Timothy Kasunic, Cynthia Sutton, the Hickman Cancer Center, Perrysburg Hospice and all the nurses and medical personnel who so lovingly cared for him. We also extend a special thank you to Father Keith Stripe of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Maumee. Family & friends will be received on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. A short liturgical service will follow at 11:30 am.
