Chris D. Richmeier, age 62, died on March 14, 2025, at the Franciscan Care Center. Born to Vernon and Marlene (Streeter) Richmeier in Wichita, Kansas, he grew up in Kansas until the family moved to Texas where he lived for many years of his life.
While living in Texas he worked as a grocery store manager, and later as a manager at a GE warehouse for over 20 years. Chris was a hard-working man who loved to provide for his family. He met Christine and married in 1986, having two amazing children together. He was a family man like no other, always making his kid’s activities a priority. They loved to camp in their RV and travel to different places, making great memories.
Chris was very athletic and greatly enjoyed playing basketball. He was a starting player for his school, Tyler Street Christian Academy. He also enjoyed sports cars that he owned when he was younger, especially his black and gold Trans Am. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Harlem Globetrotters, watching professional car racing (especially Indy style racing), and he loved planning special activities to include family members in, such as seeing the Detroit Auto Show, going to watch Broadway shows, movies, and independent films, going sledding with his kids and nephew, taking his kids to Disney World, and caring for others. He was an adventurous guy and he and his wife Christine went on multiple cruises, some with the kids and some without, and he even participated in private NASCAR racing lessons at a NASCAR track. He moved to Ohio in 2004 to work with his family at a boys group home and was a great asset to troubled youth. Although he had never done this type of work before, he was a natural at working with the boys, and he also enjoyed showing them up with his basketball skills. Between his great sense of humor that he was always so well known for, and his dependability and goal setting, he was definitely always someone you could count on and enjoy having in your life.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but he was welcomed in heaven with Jesus and is living in joy and he is no longer suffering.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Carleigh Richmeier-Torres, Chaz Richmeier; mother, Marlene Richmeier; siblings, Gayla (Martin) Vieta, Vernon (Anita) Richmeier, Kyle Richmeier, and Sam (DaMeisha) Richmeier; and the mother of his children, Christine Richmeier, many nieces and nephews and also Fawn Richmeier and Laura Richmeier.
Chris was preceded by his father, Vernon Richmeier Sr.; and nephew, Wyatt Richmeier.
A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 12 pm – 1 pm with a funeral service beginning at 1 pm. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
